The Girl Reserves was a club program for girls in the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) that was popular in the 1920s and 1930s. The program was designed to help girls develop a well-rounded personality, grow physically, and take on social responsibility. It also emphasized character building to teach girls to be caring and responsible members of society. The program began in 1918 to support World War I efforts by encouraging "patriotic war work" from young girls.
